About the Council of Immigrant Associations in Israel

         

Main services of the Council

23 organizations, dealing with 65 different countries of origin, 18,875 volunteers, 39 professional coordinators and 184 branches all through Israel are working for the benefit of Israel's new immigrants.
The Council of Immigrant Associations in Israel has been operating for more than 10 years now unifying 23 organizations which have been operating for 50 years and more.



These organizations participate in all aspects which have to do with the assimilation of new immigrants in Israel, from the beginning of their journey at their countries of origin until the immigrant is fully accepted into Israeli society.

The organizations are made up of professional workers and volunteers – old immigrants whom share a vast and rich experience of the process of immigration.

Some of the goals of the council of immigrant organizations:
* Representing and defending the rights of immigrants
* Maximizing the organizations resources
* Bringing to synergy the abilities of all the organizations
* Bringing to light the hardship of immigration among policy makers and the public
* Collaborating with government offices and experts on the subject of immigration in order to further develop the process of immigrant absorption in Israeli society.

 

* Welcoming immigrants at the Ben-Gurion airport
* Constant communication with the immigrants through phone conversations
* Defending immigrant rights in the governmental committee of immigration and absorption
* Financial help for the needy
* An ongoing contact with the welfare authorities in Israel and abroad
* Supporting children and parents to children studying in the Israeli education system


* Referring immigrants to potential job offers and professional training
* Trips directed to familiarize the country and various lectures for self enrichment
* Accompanying immigrants and supporting them through their dealings with bureaucracy

* Special activities for the holidays
* Representing immigrants in government offices
* Teenage and adult community centers, containing libraries with books in the immigrant's mother tongue
* Enabling communication between immigrants and immigrant candidates from the community at the country of origin
* Seminars for strengthening the Jewish identity
* Distribution of newsletters in the immigrant's mother tongue
* Free legal advice
* Granting student and soldier scholarships
* Activating Emergency phone lines in case of national stress
* Social activities to help get familiar with Israeli society
* Operating a mortgage and loans fund for immigrants
