Dedicated to the successful absorption of North American immigrants into Israeli society, AACI actively encourages aliyah, helps newcomers settle by providing ongoing services and engaging in programs to enhance the quality of life for all Israelis and working towards building stronger ties between North American Jewry and Israel.
AACI maintains ongoing contact with potential olim and Jewish communities in the US and Canada, as well as with Jewish Agency aliyah emissaries and all other bodies dealing with aliyah from North America.
AACI volunteers welcome immigrants at the airport and assists them through initial bureaucratic arrangements.
Professional counselors in the branches follow up and offer information and advice on a wide variety of aliyah and klitah topics. Employment counselors provide assistance with all aspects of the job search.
English-language lending libraries and/or library programs operate in five cities and a Library for the Visually Impaired is headquartered in Jerusalem.
The Association offers discount travel rates for members, and administers loans – emergency, business and mortgage – on behalf of 22 Jewish communities and organizations.
An active Seniors Division publishes a newsletter, The Senior Spectator and organizes 3-4 day seminars exploring different aspects of Israeli society.
Members receive publications and a bi-weekly E-newsletter is sent to over 5000 households.
AACI volunteers have made enormous strides in lobbying for quality of life issues, engaging in social and non-partisan political advocacy for issues such as electoral reform, environmental protection and anti-smoking legislation.
