Organization of Immigrants from Holland
Irgoen Olei Holland [IOH]
10 Yehudit Boulevard, POB 57704
membership: 1400 families
The Organization of Immigrants from Holland was established in 1943 and now attends to the welfare and wellbeing of all immigrants from Holland in Israel.
Commencing prior to aliyah, immigrants from Holland are given advice and assistance in finding housing, understanding and utilizing rights and step-by-step vis. a vis. the Israeli bureaucracy.
As most of the members are elderly, the organization established two Parents Homes (in Herzliya and Haifa); its active senior welfare section of ten social workers and volunteers, takes care of 1600 people, most of them holocaust survivors. In addition to personal care in Dutch at the individual’s homes, assistance is offered in obtaining compensations, and (financial) aid through Dutch and Israeli Foundations. The IOH also supports younger families of Dutch descent in financial need, due to medical or educational problems.
The Organization, through its volunteers, runs social clubs for its members with lectures, movies, parties and guided tours in Dutch. Less ambulatory participants are assisted getting to the clubs. The organization publishes its bi–monthly magazine, Aleh.
